Spending time in Ridgway, Colorado

Updated: Sep 9, 2023

After 3-4 days of traveling, hundreds of miles per day, and over 3,000 miles total in our trusty subaru, we finally arrived at our friend's place in Ridgway, CO.

The first few days were great, we stayed nearby, and saw the area around Ridgway, which is a really nice small town - definitely a hidden gem.

Our first hike was right outside of town, and it led to a view of the Ridgway State Park which is a gorgeous lake, it was just a hazy morning in the picture below.

Hazey was loving it!

This was an interesting flat trail, that looked ideal for mountain biking. It led to steep switch-backs and the view above...it was a good warm-up for Blaine Basin. The sun came out later that day, and the lake turned into a gorgeous turquoise color, so we stopped by to spend some time on the beach and have a casual walk around the lake.

The casual stroll got hot pretty quickly, so we turned back to the beach to cool off, but apparently, there is an even better view at the end of this trail. A day well spent. The next few photos will give you an idea of what the view from our house was over the course of this trip, and then a surprise hail storm, that we did not see coming!
